I host Ramblers’ Retreat, a weekly radio show featuring a broad swath of traditional and new folk music with a regional focus and an international flavor.

The show’s primary focus is folk music from the Intermountain West, with special attention given to music of Idaho. On any given show you might hear bluegrass and oldtime, traditional songs from the American West, music from Conjunto or Celtic or Klezmer traditions, singer-songwriters, and more from musicians who call the West home. The show also features traditional music from around the world.
The West is filled with people from other places, and some of my favorite music comes from blending of cultures and influences. A Hungarian living in Canada playing traditional Irish fiddle tunes. A member of the Cree nation influenced by Merle Travis’s guitar style. Basques, Scots, and Norwegians who brought their music to a new world and adapted old songs to new surroundings. This is my kind of folk music.
Ramblers’ Retreat airs on KRBX Radio Boise which broadcasts out of my hometown, Caldwell, Idaho, on 89.9 FM and is retransmitted for downtown Boise on 93.5 FM. It can also be heard online on http://radioboise.org. The show airs Wednesday mornings from 6:00 to 8:00 am Mountain Time.
All the playlists are posted online, going back to the show’s debut in May 2011.
