About Greg
My bachelor’s degree is in music. Although music did not become my career, I’ve found a number of ways to incorporate music into my life.
My musical tastes are widespread and I find myself sampling from many genres. I love the world of folk music, including traditional music from all over the globe, as well as the American genres of bluegrass and old-time, Cajun and cowboy. Jazz was one of my first loves and I never stray far.
I starting writing about music in 2009, both for this website and for RootsWorld. I’m also involved in community radio and host a weekly show, Ramblers’ Retreat. Through these endeavors, my goals are to help readers and listeners discover artists who are making great music and to promote music as a way to build friendships that rise above political boundaries.
Beyond that, I hope you are inspired to make music yourself.
I’m lived my entire life in the American West, so while musically I look across the entire globe, I consider the West my home. I share many of my photographs of the West on Flickr, and some of those are displayed on this website too. I also write about many of the musical offerings here in my home of Boise, Idaho.
You can reach me through email: greg@gregharness.com. I am somewhat active on Google+ and post every once in a while on Twitter. I have a Facebook account, but I probably haven’t logged into Facebook in weeks, maybe months.
